Surrender Information

Scales and Tails can sometimes foster ferrets and reptiles at our shelter and foster homes in NJ. Available space varies, especially with commonly dumped reptiles like iguanas.

as of 2010 we can no longer take in reptiles, but can help in listing them for owners on petfinder.  See our about page for more information on what we do,

Ferrets must show proof of current rabies and distemper vaccinations, and must be tested for Aleutians Disease Virus (ADV) before entering the shelter. We can help you with the testing if you are unsure how to do so.

All incoming animals have a  surrender fee, which will cover half the cost of their first vet check.

We often have a waiting list for ferrets and iguanas, but can place your animal on our website to attempt a direct adoption while we wait for shelter space to open up.

If you have any further questions, please contact us.
